Nadya’s belly was such an amazing thing that everyone wondered how she got out of bed every morning. Finally, in 2009, two girls and 6 boys were born: Nariyah, Maliyah, Noah, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Josiah, Jonah and Makai; and the mother earned the nickname of  Octomom  (Mama octopus, to refer to the eight hands that she should have for each baby).

However, Nadya pointed out in several interviews that she did not like the nickname she received and at the time she did not know how to react to the situation.

Noah, Maliyah, Isaiah, Nariyah, Jeremiah, Josiah, Jonah, and Makai, you taught me more about gratitude, forgiveness, patience, and unconditional love than I could have hoped to learn in a lifetime. Nadya confesses that she had to make many sacrifices to take on the challenge of being a supermom. These challenges include correcting her body through surgery due to the pregnancy of octuplets; But this mother of 14 also noted that she had financial difficulties to support her children. This American mother points out that she did everything so that her children would not have a hard time and to be able to cover her needs.

Currently Nadya’s children are teenagers and the octuplets are 8 years old and it must be difficult dealing with so many children in different stages, but she is not completely alone, since her father bought her a house so that she and her 14 children can live comfortably and quietly and without a doubt has the help of several babysitters.

I believe marathons are a mental sport. One year ago today I ran my first half marathon in Long Beach for breast cancer awareness, and have challenged myself to complete five more, all for a cause. More importantly, nearly a dozen of my children are excited to get involved in kids runs, and as a family we are on our fourth!
